  • 10mm Swash Driver

I'm looking for suggestions for a generic stand alone swash driver for a 10mm main shaft.

The Mikado one seems well recommended in various places, but it's quite expensive for what it is. The Align one is cheaper, but the radius arms will be suited to Align 5mm balls rather then the 4.75mm balls I'll be using. Might be able to change the balls to suit though.

Are there any others that are available to buy on their own? Velocity, Synergy, RJX, JR etc etc.

Please supply shop links with any suggestions.

i'd go with the align one and change the balls if youre not having tony's one

hirobo do one to find a picture you'll need to look on www.world-of-heli.de on the sdx/turbulence fbl conversion and you'll find its off the 3 and 4 blade scale heads

the other option is a vario unit but the align one balance's out better

I use the Velo 50 one on one of my Srimoks and have done for ages, no difference to any other driver, and I have used quite a few having been FBL for many years. It works out about £17 I think.

                Hi Steve,

This is the Synergy Inner Swash Locking Assembly: 200-409 FBL Inner Swash Locking Assembly

All that would be required in theory is to replace two of the inner swash balls with Synergy ones.

What are wanting to fit it to?
                Thanks!

I'm making my first venture into flybarless and doing a home-made head. It's going on an Xcell Stratus, and the conversion requires a set of metal Quick UK Raptor 90 grips and a 10mm swash driver. There is plenty of chat about this conversion on the American forums where Xcells are more popular. It's a direct bolt-on setup. Here's a pic of the conversion Headmodding-Stratus Miniature Aircraft do a proper 90 size fbl head, but the chat on the USA forums suggests it lacks pitch range and isn't manufactured as well as MA parts of the olden days. Having said that, my friend's one looks ok and seems to work pretty darn good.

I've sourced a set of silver grips and now have bought a swash driver as well, so the project is on a roll.

Next will be the flybarless controller, and I'm choosing between the Futaba and Vbar systems. I use a DSX9 radio so would need the Spektrum conversion box for the Futaba system, but it comes complete with the governor setup as well. If I go Vbar then I'll need a matching pair of new satelittes, and I think would have to get the governor bits as extra, so all-in-all the costs are about the same.

The two things that are in Futaba's favour for me at the moment are (a) not having to take a laptop to the field to adjust the settings, and (b) the sensor seems to be more suited to nitro helis than the Vbar, which is what this will be going on. Furthermore, my friend has a couple of GY750s on nitro helis and they just work.
