I have flown both. They are both brilliant units and for the 'normal' non-3d-god people like me they are both much more than I need. I do like the fact that the Vortex is ready to go out of the box and that I didn't have to cough up an additional 30 odd quid for 'Pro' functions. So I guess it is down to price and ease of setup and on both accounts I think vortex (particularly VX1N) wins. As far as I am concerned the way they fly is pretty much equal after V3 - but then again my flying is probably to crap to notice the difference. Customer service from both is faultless. I guess this may not be helpful, but you cant go wrong either way...I am keeping my 4 VBars, but new purchases will be Spartan.

        Nick & Ross......
sorry but as you both not owned/flown the Spartan Vortex,,, how can you post on this thread...?...
you post would just be bias towards the v-bars as you have know vx1 Experiance...
I'll tell you what I'll for for you both.....
Ill buy a silver line vbar case from Fastlads, then I'll put the vx1 inside it do you can try out the vortex without anyone knowing... Will be like a Pepsi challenge. ;-)

i have owned and flown both, for me the vortex had the edge on on cyclic feel, noticeably sharper than the vbar, if thats what you want.
Not much in it with how the tail felt tbh, but i fell out with the vortex because of the endless tweaking to get rid of bounces. That said it was V1 and probably doesn't suffer that problem with V3 now?
I will be trying the vortex again in the future but for now im more than happy with the vbar, easy to set up, and i know what i need to tweak to get the feel i want.
Haven't had to fork out £30 for pro because i bought them second hand!

...i'd be more willing try a vortex once it reaches maturity in its development but should be a good unit once ironed out.. and thats when i'll try one.

Vortex v3 is brilliant.price and flight characteristics are excellent
Vbar is brilliant.take your pick and pay your price.

Much to said for flying and not messing, especially when in this country decent flying weather is limited, I've recently sold a vbar because I didn't like the feel of it and wasn't willing to pay for pro to change that, Skookum has been my favoured FBL unit.... until Vortex V3 was released Little to no messing now feels awesome too...I'm a happy bunny and maybe putting vortex in my other model and selling the skookum...maybe!
                    cheers Lee

If it ain't broke fix it until it is
