I should add... I sell 20% Helimix and Curtis 30% (which I use) - as I have experience of both of these fuels and never an issue with either...

      Rob,

My post was based on my experience, which is well documented on this forum, and also on Runryder.

In my own case, I believe the fuel I thought was 20% was in fact 30%, hence causing terminal damage to a YS91 & an OS50. I freely admit that if I had been a little more experienced at the time I may have noticed them running lean, and stopped before any damage had been done.

The fuel was returned to LHC, where Sean ran it through a Sceadu fitted with an OS50. The engine survived, but was pretty hot. His answer was "see there is no problem with the fuel, so I am not going to help you with the damaged engine" Now, I could be wrong, but I think that Sean's engine was tuned to run on 30%, hence it did not overheat and go pop.

At the end of the day, I believe that whilst Wildcat is a very good fuel, there does seem to be an inconsistancy somewhere, which for me would would mean triple checking the needle settings when I open every gallon. I do not notice this inconsistancy with Magnum, meaning it works better for me.

      Cheers
      Russ

Now thats a fair and balanced post
Facts go a long way in my book!

I've not noticed inconsistency with the fuel I've used. The only retuning I need to do is always down to atmospherics affecting the tuning slightly, and one or two clicks usually sorts it out.
This has been the case on all fuel types I've used though, not specific to Wildcat.

One thing I've been told about the blending process is that it's done on a massive scale and is computer controlled to avoid inconsistency in the blends. Thats all I know though...

I think Sean runs all his engines on 30%, so that wouldn't help you find the issue I reckon...

        Cheers,
        Rob

My experience with Wildcat is mixed. I had you Rob and Ade at Clubman listening to my engine and one of you said rich and one of you said lean

I got through 4 gallons on the wildcat 20% and TBO was glad to finish it as my engine always seemed to run lean until It was so rich it was unworkable. I definitely had issues with it seeming OK then going lean. I replaced more fuel tube and checked my systems pressure more times during that period than ever before and since.

I am currently on CY30 and I've done 6 Gallons. In fairness overall the tuning held quite well but the last gallon or so has been a bit up and down. However I'm not drawing any conclusions yet as conditions are changable at present.

On my own personal experiences I would find it hard to recommend Hellimix 20%. Overall I am happy with the CY30.

so Rob are you saying I'm a liar ?

The box yes 4x gallons i still have sat in garrage is good fuel is it ?? anybody want to test some let me know, I'm not running anymore as its damaged one of my engines.

LHC's return policy on fuel is quite simple. If there's an issue with the fuel, you send it back for testing. If a fault is found with the fuel, your return delivery cost is re-imbursed. The fuel can then be refunded or replaced.

How is that a bad attitude?

No Arky, I'm certainly not calling you, or anyone, a liar.
I just have issues with wide generalities, thats all

              Cheers,

                  3D clubman & wildcat fuel

Its funny how certain people winge about fuel. All the staff at lhc were at the 3d championship yet the main complainant who has said on this forum he attended yet he didnt raise the subject of his so called bad fuel or bring it back.
He can say he cant think of words to describe the uk importers LHC yet he is happy to attend an event site provided free by LHC.
He doesnt say he was refunded the money for the fuel he has yet to return. He doesnt say that lhc offered to refund all the postage if the fuel was faulty.
                  you decide who is lying!

Wildman i wouldn't worry about it any longer, as i'm sure the rest of us that have had bad experience's with wildcat arn't anymore, were obviously all stupid and so rather than argue about it, were simply moving on and using different brands of fuel.
