I use 30% as it was what they had in at the time for me ... Mate of mine used to use 20% in the same engine ... he swapped and went 30 and even he noticed a difference in it ... No mfrs name mentioned there ... Just the nitro % lol ...
quote=mark lane;129441]Cheers Leo.. i was told the same about the reversal hence the reluctance to go 30 unless i was to gain notable results.
P.s haven't forgotten you regarding getting together for some flying The weather has been rubbish... next weekend is on the cards if your about!
Yeah i should be about next weekend. the weather has been rubbish want to get out and run my new ys 50 in. I use wildcat 3DLV at the moment.[/quote]
Cool i will give you a buzz closer to the time
I know there is a stock shortage of 30% magnum at the moment, but you should be able to order it in, The HH has one gallon left and they have kindly put it back for me.
I wouldn't recommend changing brands, but going up to the 30 is a good idea, and not a huge jump in price and the way you fly Mark i think you would notice the difference.

I've run 30% magnum and I'm currently running 20% and it still has plenty of go for everything I've tried. Motor is still nice and cool (but the pilot is freezing in this recent weather ).
somone recently suggested a what fuel is best poll and I posted this smart alec response:
Magnum comes top with wildcat a close second, then someone posts about how much better model techics is 'cos its in UK gallons, then a guy says magnum knackered his Hyper bearings, and someone says wildcat made his bearing go rusty, then people say they have had millions of gallons of wildcat with not problems, and someone says they ran 1000 hours on the same bearings with magnum, then someone says they like the smoke of magnum and someone says wildcat is better becuase it doesn't smoke as much and then someone says model technics smells nice and someone says it pongs, and then they say they can't do without 30% for the power and then someone says flying 20% makes them a better pilot and its cheaper, and then someone from Yorkshire says they run no nitro and save loadsamoney but they are only hovering and not doing 3D.
Did I miss anything?

Just out of interest guys- been running on 10% coolpower on both my 50 and 70 powered heli's- in the quest for a bit more power, can I just change over to Magnum fuel without probs or will my engines need slight retuning?
Thinking to go either 20 or 30%- some good deals on magnum at the moment on fleabay !!

They will run no probs at all ... You will have to rerun them in changing to that amount of nitro .... Like starting again .. Also depending on what plugs ya run ya might have to change as well ... I run enya #3's and OS# 8's
I'am already using no.8 plug's- heard that enya's are better but I've just bought a card of 12 from fastlad- will have to wait until they burn out
-when you mean rerun in,how many tanks are we talkin about?? Did'nt figure that big a change from 10 to 20% fuel,,,,,,,,

You will need to richen the main needle (anti clockwise) quite abit if going to magnum 30 but best to richen it even if going to Magnum 20% till its 4 stroking i.e not singing but slightly slobbeing with a lot of smoke from the exhaust. Have a hover for a minute with it like this then check the back plate temperature if cool take it in a couple of notches at a time till you cant hold your finger on the backplate after a couple of seconds. Then you may need to sort the low end needle out to get a reliable pick up.
The change to higher nitro is very worthwhile in my opinion.

It will need retuning for sure mate.
Nitro = oxygen it creates excess oxygen when burnt so to combat the extra oxygen you need extra methanol & oil thats in the fuel to keep the engine in tune & to get that extra heat away.
