Rapicon again

I was hunting for a heli-part that I found in the radiocontrolshop.ie and noticed they stock and sell rapicon. I asked it they would send to UK and they're looking at costings for me. I'll report back if it sounds reasonable. Doubtless it'd be better for folk who can club together and buy more than a single individual at any time.

I'd also add that the processing and postage/tracking of the small part I ordered was handled as fast and well as any UK shop I've used.

I thought Rapicon had given up on model fuel but they were demoing at Helimasters last weekend so it must be just that we don't have a UK importer

I had to switch to opti SLV. It goes well but need to check on the rear bearing to see if I'm getting the opti rust problems I had before. Rapicon was such a good fuel for both my helis and planks, such a shame that the supply can't be sorted out. I wonder how he is getting it in Ireland when no one has it here.....older stock maybe?

Punt around the web and you'll find that it's a lack of a UK distributor not a lack of rapicon globally..seems to be lost of european places where you can happily load rapicon into a shopping cart with no sign of a lack of stock. It's all a bit odd with climbout still showing as distributor??

Agreed, i have had similiar problems obtaining my prefered Coolpower fuel and Robbe Schluter UK is labelled as the importer. I've asked midlands, fast lads, skylines, revolution models, align-trex and rcheliguru. They all say they can't get hold of it so are not stocking it anymore. All they stock now is opti.

Rob Turnbull added to a thread a while ago that the import duty changed on nitro so thats the basis of the foreign nitro supply drying up

i'd noticed.....back to wildcat or MT for me then, i could never get my engines to run as smooth or cool on opti also bearings only last about half the time compared to rapicon

As far as i'm aware there's no UK manufacture for nitro as such so components would be imported/taxed anyway..which makes that daft. I'd also expect no additonal duties on european sourced & imported?

My conspiracy theory is that bearing manufacturers and optifuel heavies have been around the Uk shops 'having a quiet word'....

Thank you for your e-mail. It will cost €15 for a case of Fuel to the UK. It may not be that price if there are a few cases.

Which i think isn't too bad considering (for example) 20% rapicon is 23.49 euro per jug = 94 euro a case and current exchange rate about £75 (plus whatever you get ripped on the exchange by paypal) + carriage = £12 so total about £90 with paypal ripoff exhange fees?? delivered.

I expect to order when my current stocks of fule go low.

they very good store used em b4 been umming and erring about ordering some aero 23% as his heli fuel is the low smoke 18% oil stuff

My last couple of engine strip downs I have noticed the bearing being sparkling clean with no rust...I am using my usual 20% optifuel maybe they have been playing with the ingredients...I have not had a bearing sounding ruff either for ages...
