Never sure about burning fuel off after flying either, doesn't really make sense really as all you're doing is running it out of fuel and oil and again briefly when you start it next time.
As you say it's an easy job to change bearings but I personally don't want to drop the engine out once a month! Have you tried using the Opti 20% 4 stroke mix with the slightly higher oil content John?

Always used magnum fuels until it dried up, since then its been whatever is available locally. Model Technics Coptamix or Optifuel, even tried Rapicon which was a really good fuel IMHO as i like the extra oil content.

Never tried the 20/20 4 stroke mix, which mix are you using Tony?

Maybe an idea to inform mr optifuel to the demand for a heli fuel with 20/20 mix?

Opti already produce a 20/20 mix called Optimix-4 stroke-20 which has 20% oil content which is aimed at both 4stroke and heli engines, pretty sure now this is the one Maj and I are going to try as it's the most similar to the Rotor Rage we've been using.

Its a 20/22 mix Dave, they use the four stroke as a base mix then add to it

No I have not...I have seen the different mixes they do on their site...I really wanted too use 15% but they only do 12% its a shame they dont do a fuel for these bigger engines...the 20% SLV also goes in my 600 heli with a OS55 so it does them both and I only need one bottle of fuel for all my models....we will have too arrange a nitro meet up and compare set ups and fuel etc if you will allow us Essex lads too come too Norfolk one weekend...I would like too see this stretched 700 DFC being flown....

Maj and I have just ordered 4 boxes of Opti 20/20 4stroke mix so will be trialing that during the week although still have 2 1/2 gallons of Rotor Rage so should make it to Tuesday maybe before the Opti is needed!

When do you want to come up for a fly then John? You'd be more than welcome, I'm home for another 3 1/2 weeks before I'm offshore again. Invite is there anytime you've just got to let us know when.

Opti 2020 mix ran though on G's Rave. Needle adjustment as expected and on second tank running like a champ

                      Good decision!

Im using Optifuel 30% ULV in my 55HZR which is just brilliant and I think the lads at our field ie Robgt and Dave Millard run Optifuel 30% SLV in their 105's

I have been using 20% becra for a year now, i have 2 105's and seem to be picking up problems pistons, rings and bearings.. Quite a few have been telling me to move onto 20% opti as its much more efficent.. Any thoughts on this?

The 105's are prone to a bit of wear especially the ring locating pin. They recently changed the design to a solid peg to try and eradicate the issue. I complained direct to Japan and got Ripmax on the phone who repaired the engine FOC as I'd had a couple of pistons because of it. My theory the con rod wears slightly and rotates along it's axis rubbing the pin against the ring. When it fails you either hear it and get it down or it destroys the engine.
