I think it is just that. A rumour. I have spoken to a few os pilots none of the are admitting to knowing anything about it. Apparently there are 2 distribs in the uk and the price drop is down to them competing.

The price drop probably relates to supply and demand, the lack of supply over the summer, followed by the sudden glut we're experiancing now. . . . . . in other words, the Distributors can't organise a pi$$ in a brewery
it's so OS can compete with align for the same engine!
i expect to see an OS55 within 6 months....but thats just me saying i expect it because it's time for another engine and they will combat the TT redline.
i think there is a major issue with going beyond the 50 on the crankcase and bearing they are using now.
the bearings just arent capable of taking the load. which is why anybody that pushes their engine will kill bearings off pretty quick.
really if we are gonna get more power from these engines they are going to need to redo the crankcase to take a bigger bearing and thats going to mean differernt mounting lugs.
why not fit a 60? old heavy engine thats why.

yes there is a os 56 in the pipe with fuel injection, around 2.7hp with tuned pipe and it fits as a direct replacement and is 20 grams lighter than the os50h

from what I understand the hyper is just a suped up SX, which wouldnt have been expected to cope with the output of the Hyper, which is why they are failing fairly often.
Im only a beginer and ive managed to break a crank and im not the only one, so I cant believe their all just manufacturing faults but basic faults with the motor which comes back to trying to get to much out of something not designed to give that sort of power
its a shame you cant get needle roller bearings in 28D x 15d x 7w

I've got 3 hypers and all are fine - I've never actually broken anything internally, though I have totally trashed the internals of one engine (the first I owned) due to complete bearing failure.
Neddle roller's wouldn't be that much better, you want dual raced roller bearings ( not balls, or neddles, but 2 races of proper rollers.)
-I don't crash, I just land with enthusiasm.
A couple of 600n's with stuff on them that makes them fly..
A 550 fbl with even more stuff on it to make it fly
And a Mars 470 which needs stuff putting on it to make it fly
