  • Rossi R57 3 needle carb settings

I have finaly got round to changing the 2 needle carb on my Rossi R57 for the 3 needle unit I have had sitting around for months.

I would like to know what needle settings you are all using (im interested to see if the settings are fairly consistent across a number of different engines and how they vary relative to the manufacturers recommended settings)

So are there any Rossi R57 users out there especially those using a 3 needle carb

    Cheers

Tell me about it. With any luck I will get out Sunday and start playing with needle settings and I will post my results. I did post the same thing on helifreak in order to reach a wider audience. Again only a few replies. Novarossi R57 3 needle carb settings - HeliFreak The trouble with RC helis is the general advice given is to buy what your club mates use so they can help you set it up. Coupled with the initial issues some people had with the 2 needle carb, I feel the resultant uptake of this engine has been very low. TBH the 2 needle carb worked ok for me. The engine always started easily but it was a bit tricky to get the fuel metering in the mid range right and it required a very rich low needle to do it. The 3 needle carb is supposed to be easier to tune so I hope that is the case Those (few) who have replied all

Sticking with the 2 needle carb on mine, works fine for my flying and at least I know how to set it up.

I followed the tuning instructions that came with the engine, think it went something like adjust idle for even tickover, then adjust high needle, then trim centre. I barely had to touch the needles after. It's a great engine, easily the most powerful in the bloated 50 class but a little noisy and will test the threadlock of evey fastening. Also you have to cut a fin out the backplate to use a spektrum rpm sensor but it's worth it.
