  • os50 difficult to turn over

I have been having intermitant problems trying to turn over/start my os50 engine with an align starter. The first time it happened I made the mistake of not removing the exaust plug when fueling up. But it has happened again since. Other than hydro locking would there be anything else that could cause this?

If its trouble on the first flight of the day it could either be a low/poor starter battery or the starter itself is worn out. If its intermittent I would guess its hydro locking maybe your shut down technique, I always clamp the fuel line closed when shutting down this burns all the fuel out of the engine.

I think it might be the starter thats failing, because the last time it happened I had a spare fully charged 70c lipo with me and I tried that and it still wouldnt turn it over and this was after the engine had started and then stalled on first revving.

hi mate i had no end of trouble with my os 50 when starting so i did the followin

keep enging running clamp fueling wait till engine starts revving on its own shutt it down. when starting try starting with pipe stil clamped then un clamp when a) its running or B) its defo out of fuel

hope this is a help. the crank holds the fuel in the bearing on these pluss the pressure in tank forces fuel in to once everything is run in and had some fair use and engine is in tune its notso bad. BUT if u like me i doit on all engines every time cos if you gotta take that Damnplug out chances youll be doin it all day and 1ce is to many in my book
