Just spent this evening fitting the new motor into <<-- this heli.

Have taken the Hyper out of it, which can now go into the Sceadu rebuild to replace the old one that's mullered.

Weather permitting, should be able to run the YS up and have a few flights this weekend.

I'm planning on putting a YS50 in my Vibe 50 when it arrives... if it's only half as good as the YS91 then it will be superb!

I ran the first tank through it this afteroon - very rich, just hovering around. I would have done a few more tank-fulls but had problems with the tail on the heli which needed sorting on the bench. It's all fixed now, so should get a few tanks through it tomorrow.

I need to get used to the filling and starting procedure and the positive pressure in the tank as per the instructions. For the one tank that I did put through it though, it's abundantly clear that it doesn't suffer from that horrible low to mid range bit that the OS does. Even at very rich running-in settings it was throttling through the range beautifully.

                        Mine's just about run-in now.

The last flight I had with it was the one where I tweaked the needle valve those last couple of clicks, had a fly about, and then lost the tail on the heli!

                        Doh!

Anyway, the engine was performing well, fantastically well, and just like I've said before, none of those irritating low-to-mid range mixture problems that you get with the OS - it throttles soooooo well.

Heli is fixed now, so should be able to give it another whirl tomorrow evening.

I think you'll like it Stuart.

Hold the press, gotta problem with mine Stuart.......

Went flying last night and was messing about with my TT blades, trying to get them tracking right as per another thread. At one point, I went for another test hover, and no matter how far I pushed the 'go' stick, the engine wouldn't raise above tick-over speed.

'Knackered servo' I thought, but no - the throttle barrel is binding in the carb. It's fine when you turn it by hand about its axis, but when you try and rotate it from an 'off center' position (i.e. from the throttle arm ball joint) then it binds like mad, to the point where it stalls the servo. My engine has had about an hours flying so far, and has been performing well, but this needs sorting.

I think it's the binding is between the throttle barrel slot and the retaining bolt - I'm going to take some gentle fettling and polishing to the bolt in mine tomorrow evening to try and sort it out.

                          Watch this space.

I've been running a YS50 with Hatori 521 exhaust in my Airskipper 50 for about 4 months now, and it's awesome. Totally reliable and fuss free.

I've recently bought another YS50 ready to go into my new Vibe 50, when I get it later this year.

Well I had the first tryout with the YS50. Set it up as per manual and it runs sweet. Far smoother than the OS50 and even after 2 tanks it was sounding nicer and nicer. No governor on it yet, I'll leave a few more tanks before putting the ATG on it. Busy uploading two vids one on YouTube and another on my server @ 149mb.

Well impressed with it though. Thirsty bugger is the only downside.
