  • Hatori or MP5

    All,

Need a muffler for my OS 50 (Non hyper)

    Hatori (522?) or MP5....

Need to get a better breathing muffler for my machine ASP.

Put the duralite Regulator (5.1v) on it today seems fine as well...

I seem to remember hearing good things about a Hatori 522 on a non hyper OS 50. I can't remember where I heard it or saw it though.

Same engine I'm thinking of. I need something quite quiet but most importantly keeps the engine in tune. I don't need power, but something unfussy to set up.

My Zimmerman does this on an OS32, so let's have expert opinions.

          Cheers

I've been running the MPII on my Hyper for about a year and a half, with excellent power, but slightly critical needle setting. I have just put on the Hatori 522. Somewhat quieter than the MP, power good, but not quite as good as the MP. Some have started using the new MP5, and it is certainly quieter, less critical, but the jury seems out as to whether it is quite as powerful.
At my flying site I am more comfortable with the quiet performance of the Hatori, but for ultimate power I would probably go for the MP5.

              no expert but:
I recently fited the hatori 522 on my rappy on a 50 sx-h (not hyper).
It replaced the stock TT rappy muffler and it didn't need much different on the motor settings and was a lot quieter.
The canopy needed triming as it extends forward of the motor a bit further.

I went for the hatori becuase I heard the MP2 is louder - but there is a new MP2Q though...
The hatori was a little less than the MP2 and zimmerman from what I could find.

Nutz has both MP2 on his rappy and hatori on his new 600N...on hypers.

i have 2 r 50's both with hypers. one has zimmerman one has the hatori.
                and have tried mp2
noise level= nothing between them. (mp2 is noisy)
power = the hatori by far, needle is not critical and runs sweet.

i found the mp2 (no experience of new mp5) critical on tuning and probably best on 30 % nitro. found the hyper a bitch to tune on this pipe wth 16% + 20% nitro.
                just my opinion and findings

hatori is a good option. mp2 good with 30% . mp5 dont Know.

Thats a hard on to answer.
The Raptor with hyper MP2 is loader and has 8.73:1 with +14/-14 running at 2000RPM, the Raptor pitch feel is more sensitive and loads in a different way to the Trex 600N (more progressive loading/bogging)
The Trex 600N with Hyper and Hatori 522 has a 8.5:1 and this weekend I increased from +13/-13 to +14/-14 running at 2100RPM, The pitch feel is less sensitive meaning further stick travel to get the same effect as the Raptor, it does not load bad but feels like there is more power loss during constant tic tocs and can be bogged more easy in heavy maneuvers. I believe someone commented as a head speed heli and not a torquey one.

So depends what gearing your running, but my preference is the MP at the moment. I got a friend trying a MP5 on his Trex 600N soon.

Steve Gerrards Trex600n is using the MP5 on a hyper and it's flamin ballistic.
I currently use the Hatori 521 on my Sceadu, which I find a little better than the MP2, but the MP5 moves the game along again as far as I can tell.

                    Cheers,

yeah bob just sent me one too.

I think their great pipes good noise plenty power, for my level of flying anyway. only thing im not that keen on is ive one on my knight and one on my raptor and ive had to trim both canopies.
                          All the best
