I've just picked up new SRS to go in my Aurora and whilst taking the back plate off to fit the fan hub I noticed they have changed the design of the plate. It now is an aluminium casting with a steel face added.
So off to the dreaded RR I went to see if there were any postings on this, and yes apparently the idea is it will prevent the kind of scoring from the crank pin that we have got used to seeing in all our engines.
But unfortunately a side effect of this new design is that none of the back plate governor sensors will work as the steel prevents a valid signal being picked up from the crank pin.
So as I have a AR7100R receiver for the Aurora, going to try it out first to confirm what is being said and if true, I am going to have to buy an old style back plate for the SR engine.
Anyway this is just a heads up to any prospective SRS purchaser.
If anyone has a spare YS91SR back plate, please PM me with how much you want for it
