  • Governor sensor failure!!

We all know the horror stories, what happens when the governor sensor fails. The heli spins up in the blink of an eye to a headspeed of 20000, and unless you're really fast to switch back to normal mode, explodes in a cloud of shrapnel.

OK, so it happened to me. The governor sensor failed.
I noticed it about three flying days later tweaked the throttle curve a bit and continued flying.

I thought if sensors failed, then the gov defaulted back to whatever throttle curves were in the tranny.........

that's what it did. My throttle curves came straight from the aerospire manual and were never set up for ungoverned flying. Seems that it worked well enough for me to not even notice the problem.

yeah that normally what happens the gov just uses the normal throttle curve. i always set up a reasonable throttle curve first then enable to governer

Totally overrated scare story for sure. BUT you do still need to have the blades attached to provide a load.

Same as throttle servo failure (on the NR57 the carb barrel moves to FULL!) Have seen this twice and apart from the last 10seconds when the tank runs dry and the motor goes lean if you can control the load on the head for example by pitch pumping to keep it from getting to silly speed it shouldn't explode. The main thing is not to panic and position the model away from you but keep Pitch on the head all the time.
