  • New OS50 Hyper Settings

I'm just about ready to start running in my new engine, but thought I'd read the manual once more especially for the running / break in period. Now, I know you should run on the rich side to start with, but the manual says, for the first run, "the needle valve should be 1.5 turns out from the normal setting", or words to that effect..........now am I being dumb, but that would mean it should be 3 turns out...is that correct?

(1.5 turns out being the recommend setting)

Ran a tank through ok, can't believe how easy it was to start ! (11 mins at tick over to half throttle) just about lifting off ! Stalled it a few times though adjusting the throttle up as it's so rich !
Can't wait to get back flying properly even with the stock muffler! Planning on going to the Southern Airshow this weekend, so I'll see if any performance pipes are on sale there, though to be honest I did not notice any difference when I went from stock to the high performance Align pipe.

2nd tank run, turned in the needle a couple of clicks, should I lean it out a few clicks after a few more runs, than straight in to around 2, before around 1.5? ( I know this depends on conditions / fuel etc, but roughtly speaking?)

2nd run up was another 11 mins, is it because its so rich it was using the fuel quickly? (not even at gone past half throttle yet !!!)

Useful tip - never make drastic needle changes on an engine - you should stick to less than 1/8 of a turn when making large adjustments.

If you keep going in 2 or 3 clicks after each quarter to half tank from here on, you should start getting somewhere close after a few more tankfuls.

Look to have it leaned in and tuned after 5 or 6 tanks for a nice soft run in.
            That's what I do anyway...

            Cheers,
