  • OS 50sx H Conrod alignment

Hi all - Ok, you can all call me a numpty if you like! but I need your help please.

I stripped my OS 50 and put new bearings in it but I cant remember which way around the conrod goes in. Now, the end that fits onto the crank shaft is offset ever so slightly as you can see at the bottom of these pics and its this part I'm not sure which round it goes.

    Thanks in advance

      Perfect. Nice photo.

A great tip I saw in a heli strip down video was to put a small scratch on the side of the conrod you can see, before you take it off :-)

Doesn't help now, but it's something to remember for next time

Yes, when I was trying to find which way it goes I come across a video stripping and replacing the crankshaft brarings, and he was saying to put a small scratch on the rod BEFORE you take it out so you know which way it goes back in.

          Great tip
          Cheers

On the big end (the bit that goes on crank) the brass bushing has a shamfered edge that's noticeable larger on one side. That goes on facing the crank to make it easy to fit. Once you know this its easy.

              Hi Diesel carb
That shamfered brass bush on the big end of the con rod is very noticeable now you've mentioned about it. Thank you for that.

Well the engine is all resembled now after a good service and some new bearings. I gave the piston and ring a clean up, ring is moving freely now and there's a lot more compression. Should be able to fit it back in the Raptor tomorrow and try it out.

Thanks again to you all guys
