  • cylinder liner and head becoming one

    hi all

took my os 50 hyper apart yesterday to have a look to see why it had a poor top end power....

as i took the head off, the cylinder liner came with it!

i know these 2 bits are meant to be separete so i am now trying to get them apart

    i have tried:

freezing it all in a freezer, then putting the head into boiling water
    and
putting it in a vice and hitting it with a hammer....

i am now completly stuck on firstly why it would have been stuck in there (got it secound hand from an experianced pilot and he dosnt know why)

and secoundly why i carnt get it out! lol

    hope u can help
    cheers
    Tom

Try warming it up....gas powered soldering iron/blow torch will do.

                jeffing genius!

i just ruled that out because i thought it would just be the same as toasting and flameing for example....

but 15 mins at 200c and it simply broke apart...

                soo happy now

                thanks for all your helpss

                cheers

If you pop it back together but leave all the head bolts evenly undone by about 2 turns.
Then attach the fan or a propeller and turn it over by hand, the compression should break the seal.

Whoops you already did it, too much alcohol, me eyes have gone fuzzy
