  • Asp engines

I've had a browse through the forums here but I've not found much mention of asp engines.

I've read elsewhere that their engines used to be rubbish but the reviews of their recent engines can't seem to sing their praises highly enough. I was looking at the a52h in particular to put into my raptor30 but I thought I'd ask whether anyone on here has any experience with their newer products. At £45 on hobbyking it seems like great value but what do you all think?

I have a Asp41 in a plank and despite it not being looked after properly (flown, stored ,flown, stored in a cold shed without after run) its been faultless) and still starts easily and revs its tits off!

Give it a try and let us know how you get on.

Personally, I think it will be fine for general club flying.

I have only experience of their engines in planks, which is a bit of a mixed bag.

They are cheap, but they are very variable, particularly in the quality of their carbs.

Certainly not as bad as MDS were, but if you get a duff one you would pay the price in them never keeping tune.

helis are a different game when it comes to tuning, and I would rather have the knowledge that the carb I was using was good and would stay in tune...2 stroke plank tuning is easy... full throttle, tune to maximum rpm, then richen it a few clicks, hold it nose up and check the rpm doesnt drop and its pretty much job done.... so a tune before each flying session wasnt an issue...

Right. I've ordered my engine from hobby king and I'm looking for an exhaust. The problem is I can't find anything official from asp on exhaust bolt spacing. There's a comment on hobby king from a chap who says the spacing is standard 50 size at 30.7mm.
All exhausts I've found for 50 engines have about 37.2 mm. Could you all advise? Also, how is the original raptor 50 exhaust?

if you want a very basic exhaust the hirobo sceadu kit one has the spacing
for the 30 and 50 class motors so it should fit

You're correct though that the standard 50 spacing is 37mm
