  • Quad, Why did i not get one sooner?

    Hello,

Damn this 550 sized quad is fast. Just tuning her out, its very stable and powerfull. Got a fpv set coming so should be good and thats with cheap HK unbalanced blades!

Can't wait to get some carbon ones and my fpv set on her!

Yeah, a few wobbles but in all fairness i need to play with the gains and I still need to set up the auto-level on the kk board. Apparently with carbon blades this will be rock solid and I believe it!

Its really good for only £50. Just attached a digital cam and it holds the weight really well!

Weird , I was just flying my Mqx round the garden and was thinking I would like a bigger one. Would be interested when you finish setting this what your full spec is.

Yep me too. Just got a FPV setup and put it on my Trex 500 for now. I think not the best bird for it so thinking going quad or plane. Was leaning towards a plane for longer distance and think it might be more stable. ??
Anyways about to head to the field to give it a test for the first real time. Had the camera going a couple of weeks ago but got a better viewer on the computer and OSD now.

What quad was it for 50 quid?

I got it off somebody here on the forum (new). Though from hk its only £85.
I'm going to do some shorter range stuff first while I test the Skews and my 200mw 5.8ghz fpv system. If you set a quad up right they are seriously stable!

Had my 500 out today with the FPV on it. Just uploading a video now. Had a few flights. Spent 75% of the time looking at the screen. Such a different feeling and so hard to tell if and how far you are drifting. Seems to be a fair delay in the GPS feedback. Anyway went well and didn't crash :-) Couldnt get the courage to do much flying around. Almost like beginning all over just trying to learn to hover. Haven't done a range check on anything yet either. Max height was only just over 100m and distance not much further.
Just interested if the quad gives you the same sensation of having trouble telling of you are drifting. Maybe need an autopilot that self levels and hovers on the spot when you let the sticks go.

WOW, even with unbalanced blades that are cheap plastic from HK its rock solid in 15mph gusts. Really impressed, there is a few vibes but my new carbon reinforced blades should stop that!

                      Really impressed with this.

I put the battery on the underside of the quad to make it less top-heavy and it does make it fly a little better!

My first flight with a camera, no foam dampening just mounted it strait onto the carbon frame. Strapped it down and this is the result!
