Nice looking group of multi blade set ups there!!

I'd be very interested to know how you get on with that new Hex frame mate - looks very good. What controller will you put into it?

    Cheers,
    Simon

Its going to have the flyduino setup shown above with sonar for altitude hold upto 2m and the allinone sensor board with barometer for altitude hold above 2m, and the gps for loiter return home and way points,
      using the mega pirate firmware,
heres a pic of the mission planner

Nice, not sure about that frame - its the first hex I've seen with variable length arms.

Anyway Gaz, just out of interest which quad controller do you rate as being the best ? And which motors ?

Personally the Openpilot system has blown me away, not yet sure on motors.

I've been through gaui, Blackboard, various kits but none have been brilliant yet (all have been very flyable)

Very interesting indeed Gaza. Orientation must be an absolute bugger even with the coloured balls to sight on, you don't let them get too far away I imagine.

Trex 450 SEV2, hack, freeby, but getting expensive. Binned the bu**er !

mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.

Brains and thumbs work okay, but not at the same time.

Completely agree with the comment about open pilot system, I've been testing lots of things including KK, Arduino, Open Pilot and also multiple logging systems like Eagle Tree along with OSD systems like remzibi and also playing with antenna tracking systems and telemetry systems eg Xbee - oh and head trackers and various camera platforms.

I'm sitting here right now messing about with the Open Pilot GCS which is great. Lots to learn - great fun.

              Cheers,
              Simon

Ive been watching the openpilot project with great interest and will wait for the pro version before I dip my toes in to that one, it is a very good board and a excellent gcs to go with it, but not easy to get since flying wings got busted for taking pre orders
I started with KK boards and found these very good but soon moved on to the multi wii which is developing very fast they are now adding gps support to that to, it already has the acc and baro enabled if you have them, you can actualy build a multiwii copter now with out having to rip a wii controller apart as it can be bought ready to fly,
At the moment my favourite board is the flyduino mega as it will run multiwii or mega pirate,
The mega pirate is still in beta tho and does have bugs but its great fun testing it and I hope when its done to have a copter that will almost fly it self
As for motors and esc,s I havent had any problems with the Rctimer gear that I use, but I am hoping to try the keda a2026 motors as they seem to be very popular at the moment but as rare as rocking horse sh*t
There is a video about of some one flying a flyduspider the same type of frame as above and it flys very well, Heres a couple of videos

Yea you can sometimes loose sight of the ball and it just looks like a cross in the air

I noticed on the multiwii code site Here they have released a version of the code for a variable pitch X quad,
Cant wait to see someone with one of these 3d quads maybe
