Unfortunately it won't stop the tossers. But something has to be tried before there is a major incident

Yup... this sort of nonsense only ever affects the people who don't need this legislation imposing on them, because they're not tw@ts.
The tw@ts simply won't register them.

Best start figuring out where you are going to strap the GPS to your heli then as so far there hasn't been much success in separating quads etc. from model aircraft and helicopters when it comes to legal definitions of 'drone'...

            That is positive - thanks

Can you post that on the BMFA FB page?

              Thanks for the link.

Looks like much still hangs on the EASA changes due next year...

Also doesn't look like there is any intention to differentiate between 'model aircraft' and 'drones' despite the concern being raised.

It was disappointing to see the constant use of the word 'drone' without any actual definition, especially when talking about existing legislation which of course does not use that term, but does use 'small unmanned aircraft' and also 'small unmanned surveillance aircraft' and clearly differentiates between the two.

Personally I find the easy and casual use of 'drone' as the most dangerous aspect of the current Government response...

I'd be very surprised if they even attempted to differentiate. Most likely they'll use 'drone' as a catch-all term for any remotely piloted aircraft.

That is what bothers me, as currently we at least have clear separation of the legal limitations on 'aircraft' equipped with a camera and those without a camera.

Once you lose that differentiation you are only a very short step away from having to incorporate technology, that has little or no useful purpose, into our helicopters and aircraft.

The 'drones' they are most worried about already have the technology of course...
