Had a few quads, bought my 1st off here and built the rest.

Been looking at the quanum nova and would welcome any reviews and advice if you had one or used one

not looking for a serious machine, just a bit of leisure flight and filming, intrigued by the gps and various modes

I've had one for a couple of weeks now.

Best advice is when you get it, open it up and make sure everything is properly stuck down as there have been many that have had vital parts come loose in-transit.

The good part though is that it has an APM flight controller in there which you can update with the latest firmware and connect to Mission Planner to get full waypoint programming capability.

You can also use self-tightening Phantom props if you wish as the motors are the same size and use the appropriately clockwise/anticlockwise threads.

Ditch the included radio or get the PNF version.

ive read elsewhere about bit coming loose in transit. I have a dx7 tx for my helis so I'm assuming it'll be compatable so looking at the pnf version

how does it fly manually and how does it fly in waypoint mode? How stable is the altitude hold?

DX7 should be fine.

Minimum needed to fly this thing is 5 channels, A.E.T.R and a mode channel. With the DX7 you may have to do a little mixing if you want more than 3 flight modes.

The stability of the altitude hold and position hold is very good indeed on my model, but getting a good GPS lock is pretty easy where I fly.

A few have reported some issues, but I suspect the key problem was poor GPS lock in most cases.

In 'manual' mode which is APM terms isn't really manual, it is not especially lively, but you can change the limits to make it more aggressive if you prefer.

It's the Hobby king version of the APM, thankfully it's pretty much the same as the original. APM is not for the faint hearted - give me a shout if you get stuck

Just in case anyone is looking for a cool cheap sports quad controller - try getting hold of a naze32 - does GPS and all kinds of flight modes, brilliant on smaller quads.

Purchase from abusemark.com (and other places) in case you don't know the Mark they are abusing is from DJI - these guys detest DJI with a vengance even to the point of saying their flight controller does not work with DJI frames. Funny guys but take a look at the reviews.

Received a large parcel today from Hong Kong.....the nova has landed!

Done a bit of reading over the last few days and know I have a lot to learn but took the top off and made sure everything is stuck down.

watched hobbykings video on connecting the rx and seen the various options.....only ever connected 4 channels with 4 leads vertically to the rx so even more to learn!

going to take it slow and steady, running is easier when you can walk well!

Need some help here folks please

plugged in the rx to the nova to bind and all that happens is the motors go bleep bleep and no light on the rx

tried the rx on my heli and binds straight away

am I missing something?

Sounds like you've missed out the power feed to the receiver.

From memory you should have channels 1-5 for A,E,T,R and flight mode, then there are two channels for the gimbals control and then power on the last port.
