Multi rotor ?

I've already asked a question what Quad!
but now I cannot make my mind up. Dji Phantom FC40 or Blade 350QX, but the blade has no camera, a cheep Hero3 £200. What would you do? Would like RTF.

I have a 350qx and although I haven't flown it I've seen a club mates Phantom. TBH I would choose the Phantom.

Its better quality and seems to fly smoother with better gps lock.

There is a problem with the Phantom V2, its battery. They are very expensive and appear to have some discharge detection or connection issues too. I much prefer to use generic or even relatively inexpensive E-Flight batteries.

What is the stock tx with the phantom like? I can't imagine it would be as good as the likes of spectrum or Jr ?

Well, for what it's worth, I'm going a completely different direction for a 3dr (3D Robotics or Arducopter) Y6 with a pixhawk controller. This is for the folding Y frame / redundancy (6 rotors) as much as the Pixhawk / opensource controller which looks to be a next step in flight controller.

Just to confirm, I also spent a long time trying to decide, looking at f450 / f550 but didn't really get the appeal of the phantom. Long term I will probably use it for a mix of fpv, aerial filming and a bit of a throw about, to me the phantom I saw didn't really look to satisfy the last point which would also run into the fpv side but this is only from a first flight view so I may be very wrong, its just not me. Ultimately I did get bored with wanting one but not deciding....so I just went for it, hopefully it won't end up on the for sale area too quickly.

Hopefully should have the 3DR Y6 early next week so maybe will be able to chuck up some images and initial experiences in a week or so.

Not gonna read all the comments but you have to remember - the FC40 or something uses 5.8ghz signal and not 2.4 (2.4 is being used for the camera)

Phantom is under powered as well - you're best off building your own using APM's flight controller maybe or Naza v2 but use your own motors and esc..
my Phantom (v1.1.1) with tarot gimbal, boscam vtx and gopro black 3 is 1180grams (limit is 2kg) and I can only get 5mins flights using gens ace batteries.

If anyone wants a parts list for a quad I just built and the drawing for the frame then let me know. £132 with cheap motors and esc or £218 with really nice motors and esc. That is basically bnf, battery rx and FC included. I fly mine FVP with gopro and get 15mins flight times on it bashing through trees and flying round stuff. I fly mine with kk2 but for an extra £150 you could fit naza v2. If you want OSD I would go AMP or pixhawk though since DJI iOSD makes it start getting pretty expensive all in.
