  • Multicopter build / buying advice needed

I'm wanting to get / build a multicopter and have been dithering over the last month or so.

In a nutshell I'm after the following:

Usage: Aerial video (gopro), FPV, bit of fun
Frame: Collapsible, Y6 (if poss or tri, I like the look), capable of carrying fpv + gopro + gimbal
Controller: Pixhawk (really like the sound of it, open source, waypoints etc) or maybe Naza
Timeframe: Would like to do basic build now, happy to add gimbal + fpv later, spread the cost so my wife won't notice ;-)
Budget: £400ish (£200ish on the frame, motors etc if using Pixhawk)

So my questions is what would you recommend for the main quad (frame, motors etc) or should I say sod it and just get a dji f450 or f550 as I'm sure FL will have a sale soon.

    All advice greatly appreciated.

FL have got some good deals going on with Dji frames

also HK have a number of parts frames etc as been looking myself at doing a home build something to fly quite fast low down and not really care if it goes in at all

I guess my issue on doing a self build is simply sizing motor, props etc. It also appears I can't get a tri or Y6 kit without spending a lot of money, even then they appear rare.

Has anyone tried the DJI E300 Tuned Propulsion System which I assume I could just put onto a Y6 frame?
