Does anyone own one of these? A little expensive but online videos a crisp and smooth and I like you can view the video real time.

Not the phantom, but a DJI F450. Basically the same without clothes on!! Got last week and test flew it yesterday. Combine it with FPV goggles and its so much fun. Fit a gimbal camera mount on the front, chuck on a Gopro Hero 3 and the camera results are amazing. Lots of the guys at SWQC (dont ask what it stands for) have them which is what persuaded me. Couple of small vid's to give you an idea:

    Camera Gimbal:

    Flying:

The Phantom will do everything this can, this is just a little easier to upgrade/modify etc. The GPS Naza controller is just so easy. It will fly totally hands off and a full failsafe that if tx/rx path is lost it will automatically fly home. If you can fly heli's this is relatively simple. FPV takes some getting used to. I am only a beginner, but seem to have grasped the basics so far

If you are thinking of a Phantom, get the original one. You can then add a gopro, FPV, Gimbal, OSD etc. Will be cheaper than the phantom vision and better. Don't forget the vision uses a wifi extender to connect to your phone for the fpv part and this only has a range of 300m. The original phantom will go 1000m and a bit beyond. It's a fantastic little machine. Have been having a blast with mine with fatshark FPV and gopro fitted. Gimbal on it's way.
If you have a bit more cash to spare then go with something like Aidi's setup above. Very very nice. Or one step further go with a TBS discovery or a big hex. Whatever you do, you will enjoy FPV. It's such good fun and a nice different side to the hobby.

Rich knows his stuff, he and the other QC'ers are what got me into this lark. Smoothness is down to the gimbal. If i could put up a video of what i see out of the FPV camera the differnce is unreal.

LOL I'm still learning. The other lads are the experts. I fly a lowly Phantom at the moment. Although it is very very good. Can't wait to get something bigger

Lowly phantom? I think its a cracking little quad Rich and it can certainly keep up with the others in a straight line!

I've just bought a phantom not a vision but the newly vamped version of the original one. I've also got a gopro 3 black edition lying round the house, so question is what do I need to go FPV? I take it some fatshark goggles but what else ie: leads, gimbal etc

buy the fatshark set, So goggles and VTX etc

you'll need some skew antennas, go pro video out cable, soldering iron, Gimbal lots of choices though

The Fatshark Predetor v2 comes as a complete setup. Goggles with built in rx, Tx antennas and a camera. Wouldnt use a gimbal for your fpv.. If gimbal fails you could find yourself trying to fly looking straight down or towards the sky! you can mount the Tx on the Phantom (probably underneath is the best place to allow antenna to point straight down), give it power from the balance plug on your flight battery and you are ready to go. All in is around £240.

                              Hi,
If you are not using a gimbal straight away get one of these
Smooths out camera and you can attach the fatshark tx on the back plate. Works a treat.
