That is a good question. I can't see any reference to a card in the packs in any adverts anywhere, but I can't also see them supplying a camera without even a basic card to get you going.

No card, and reports on sandisk micro cards having problems, go onto there website and they recommend micro sd cards that should have a record/write Data of more than 50mb? a sec.. to get good quality as most cards cannot keep up with the quality. So I've read

What surprises me is I use a class 10 sandisk extreme in my 60d for full 24/30 fps HD recording & have never had issues & seems to be the gopro has issues with a few cards so doesn't that point to the issue being with gopro ?

If you just want to record 1080p at 60fps you can use any class 10 card, if you want to use 4K or the protune mode (which uses lower compression) you will need a faster card 45mb/s or faster.

majority of the times its the sandisc ultras to seem to have issues, but I had a few flights on my ultra (100% genuine) today and it recorded just fine - generally though for gopro you should use an extreme if you intend to fpv with it and dont want lockouts ... alternatively take another card like the kingston micro sd cards are known to work much better ... could also be due to too many fake sandiscs floating around, you never know ...

Ok so most users will never need protune mode or 4k so should be ok with the normal run of cards, only a small percentage of users will be using in 4k mode or pro tune mode & have the post processing capabilities to deal with them
