No, the tx he's using is a 5.8ghz one. You can't use 2.4ghz radio and 2.4ghz video they swamp each other and the aircraft promptly crashes.

Appreciate the thing about control and wifi frequencies being different.Originally posted by David Drew View PostScuse my ignorance on these things. is he using a separate wifi Tx?
The Gopro has wifi built in presumably not on 2.4ghz. I assume the Aee Magicam needs a separate Tx module to downlink pictures.Happy Landings.

Nope the go pro uses wifi on 2.4ghz, there's a mountain of threads on rcgroups about it causing crashes. And the range is crap to boot so it's pretty useless.Invertix 400

Wifi may be used to stream the videos that were recorded wirelessly from the Go Pro to your computer so you don't have to faff with the SDS cards. But on the setup in the video that I have posted that bloke I know has the video downlink from the AEE Magicam to a seperate monitor at a base station and the video footage/flight footage gets recorded whilst he is flying. So he using the AEE to see for FPV aswell as using it to record the flight.

Yes.Originally posted by Andy from Sandy View PostThis is the question I am asking. Wouldn't you disable the WiFi anyway and just use I assume its video out socket.

This is why I have struggled with others when saying the WiFi cocks up our rc transmitters. I hopefully assume the WiFi can be disabled on the GoPro?Originally posted by JoeBailey View PostYes.

not necessarily Andy, you might want to use the gopro remote to turn on/off, shutter etc this still requires Wifi - but its the wifi video that seems to flood 2.4ghz and causing issues not the gopro remote which only sends short messages ...Originally posted by Andy from Sandy View PostThis is the question I am asking. for the gopro3+ there seems to be some issue that it somehow still floods and you should shield it Shielding a GoPro's EMI / RF Noise - HovershipSev

£119 over on fleabay, they look very good value for the money.Originally posted by Grant85 View PostOr even better get one of these:
AEE MagiCam SD23 1080P HD Video Camera w/Waterproof Case
A bloke that I know has just got one of these little beauties and they p*55 all over the Go Pros AND.....AND......At a fraction of the cost! The quality is unreal and it's awesome for FPV! No blurriness or juddering etc....And it even comes with an attachable LCD screen. The Go Pro doesn't have that does it
Go Pros are good bits of kit don't get me wrong.....but way overpriced IMO!
Cheers,
Grant.
