Perhaps if you wanted to take it to Canada in winter or something perhaps. But this will be going on Simons aerial rig. So won't be a problemOriginally posted by pgkevet View PostAn intersting looking camera but i notice the operating temp is from 0C which strikes me as a bit limiting?
I did look at this camera, and whilst the specs do look superb, who can work with 4k? Not many people can do anything with it. I may get one for stock at some point, but I'll wait for the initial batch to be released first, see what the reviews are like, then get one to try.Very proud to be an Align-Trex.co.uk Team Pilot!

Believe me, As well as lighter rigs, the top flite pros DO use Big D.S.L.R.s (Quite often the Canon EOS 5D as it trades good results for less weight). BUT they DON'T use small "Drones" with big cameras, they use very large ones. The set up will cost thousands, but the results will be eye watering. However, unless you have access to something similar to the national debt of Greece. The GoPro 3 black edition and a small Quad would be a very good place to start. There are You tube movies to show how to reduce Jelly (Jello if English is not your first language) and some of the results are stunning. Ref:- (DJI PHANTOM GO PRO HERO 3 BLACK - YouTube) And This next one is only 720 !(Cruddcopter FPV - Seaman Style (GoPro 3 Black) HD - YouTube) WOW! ... Also (Though less spectacular subject) (Awesome GoPro HERO 3 HD Camera on RC DJI F450 Quadcopter. Aerial view with gopro. Black Ops UAV - YouTube). Hope these help. But they do show that a GoPro 3 Black edition and a small quad, can produce excellent results when handled properly.Last edited by groupcaptainbonzo; 10-07-2013, 11:30 AM.

What you say is true jimmyhorns. There is a lot more to a top quality image than an expensive camera. BUT to record that image requires a good sensor (Expensive), Top quality Glass (Also expensive). and good processing power. So, while there are some real bargains out there (and a GoPro 3 black is deffinately one of them). A cheap camera will probably spoil what is a good image by recording the image with Low contrast, Scratched lens, Low definition chromatic aberation etc etc etc (Fill in as you desire). You also need a good stable reliable platform which is well tuned. Some sort of view finder, and a good understanding of how to use the camera and what constitutes a good image. But you DO need a good camera.Last edited by groupcaptainbonzo; 17-07-2013, 07:53 AM.

TBH ive been pretty impressed with the Hero 3 Black considering its lens and sensor size......setup with lack of vibration is vital to get good results even out of the Gopro. Ive really enjoyed the whole aerial photography thing so far.....but it is leading into some serious kit now....LOL
