  • E300 power system, soldering and Braiding the Wires

    Hi Guys,

I have just finished my new F550 build with the E300 power system. One thing that surprised me was the single wire from the Esc to the Main board. After a bit of google'age I found how to connect it so thought I would share it with you.
I also like to add braid to my wires as I think it tidies up the model nicely.

Sorry for the small picks but a) there are a few and b) I don't know how to make them bigger.

So here is the basic E300 ESC out of the packet ready to be soldered

Step 1: Remove the connector from the wire that goes to the controller (this is for the braiding)

Step 2: Cut the main wire to the required length (I hate having excess wiring, it looks untidy and is added weight).

Step 3 & 4: Carefully remove approximately a fingers width or rubber from the wire.
Pull back the metal braid and twist to form a thicker wire.

Steps 5 - 7: Cut your selected piece of braiding to the required length of the main wire (the controller wire will stick out further.
Cover the ends of the wires with tape and feed the braiding through
Cut two pieces of heat shrink to your required length

Steps 8 - 10: Thread one piece of heat shrink over the wires and the braid, tucking it into the esc slightly (for neatness) and heat to shrink.
Thread the second piece onto the front of the braid
Heat the Heat shrink to seal the braid into place.

Steps 11 - 13: Tin the ends of the main wire
    Solder to the main board
Step back and admire your finished product.......repeat 6 times

I hope this is helpful to people.
Working...
