Nothing in the BMFA handbook regarding 5.8 as a control frequency...I dont understand why a company reaching out too a mass market would use 5.8 rather than the normal 2.4 or 35 meg...

They use the 5.8 so you can use 2.4 as your video on your I phone, it makes it plug and play so any muppet can do it.

but if there video too the phone does not interfere with the 2.4 our radio work on why dont they fly on 2.4 also as we do....

The video transmitter in the go pro onboard the phantom will drastically affect range on the 2.4ghz control. It will work but not at any kind of range and may stop at a few feet. That's why you split your video and radio onto differant frequencies, in the uk you can move your radio onto 459mhz and use 2.4 or 5.8 on your video.
