OK, well I've managed to get it working and also managed to get my mates working to.
Not sure what was going on wth the binding but it seemed to be sensetive to closeness of other sources or RF like phones laptop and PC, the exact sequence of switching thisngs on and what was witch on durin the bind process. To get it to bind initially I was 20m away from the model.
Once bound it proved impossible to calibrate the sticks. A minisqule touch on the controls was sending the travels (over) 150%. Somehow, after loads of tinkering and I think it was setting the servos throws to 5% then calibrating again, then re claibrating at 100% did I get any sense from the phone/quad.
To get my mates working I copied the settings from mine and just programmed his with my phone and Tx. He just needs to re bind now and reverse some throws.
Had 3 flights without the goggles have to say that it flew very well so my faith is restored. I just wish I could be sure about the exact sequence of events that sorted it.
