250/300 Racer

The quad is amazingly fast but not had the opportunity to compare with 250 class & as well it really is fun & worth considering a mode, ive got onboard cam which is wifi to the phone app so if i want to do a mode to use my fatshark attitude goggles what my options & keeping weight to a min.

A mini 200mw vtx is nice and compact and weighs a few grams.

Acro sir When set up nicely its just like a fbl heli, I know someone who's wayyyy better than me and he flies in angle mode so use whatever you prefer

Is this done with using tx mixing, mate of mine has a 250ish size not a clue on make but looks made up from various bits but when using as a racer is fine & fast but to bring to an hover is very difficult so now ive set his quad up so when in hover its in stable mode when hovering & when cyclic stick input is used quad goes into race mode, let go og cyclic & quad goes into sable mode & unlike before forever crashing he since had 20 odd races with no crashes.

I prefer manual/acro but im wondering if using another mode may improve the racing

I have a three position switch on my dx8 set so at the top is disarmed, middle is horizon mode (auto levelling but still able to flip and roll) and the bottom position is Acro, I decided to keep Horizon on there just in case i lose video anytime it might help me save it or at least put it down something like level, Haven't used it so far though

So in tx mix you could say mix switch G poss 0, center @ cyclic stick is horizontal mode & as you use cyclic stick it goes into ie acro mode (for fast flight is that.?) then center cyclic returns to horizontal mode.

Ooohh I like that idea - horizon / self levelling when near centre stick, and rate mode when there is cyclic input - good idea, I'm gonna try that next time.

Very smooth, I first experimented on my 350QX so i could do flips with the camera mounted to be sure it comes out of the flips & levels when cyclic stick centers.

If your tempted use 2 mixes 1 for elev & the 2nd mix aile, depending on tx to how easy it is but basically in the mix window of tx assign switch you want to use then use the centre part of the curve & move + or - to find you horizontal mode & count the numbers ie if the mode becomes active between 0% +60% then set to +30% then adjust the end points 100% of the curve for your acro mode by scrolling + or minus but careful test is needed to be sure you end points for acro are set for direction of flight, reverse the numbers if this does happen.

Thanks Jim, I think I get the idea, will have to try it on my DX8 and NAZE32 controller, but I'm sure something is possible.
Not sure how it will 'feel' with self levelling in the middle and acro when the cyclics are moved, but will be fun to find out.

No probs Trev, as well you've always got D/R & expo if you feel it needs calming as you use the cyclic.

Are there led lights on the quad to say which flight mode you in...?
