  • My Logo 400X

Ok where do I start with this one! :lurk5:

Let start with how. Helinut had some logo 400 canos in the FS and with some of mine looking taty I thought why not have a spare or two, the price was fair also. This lead to not just the canos but the Carbon frame, vbar head and SE boom. Having a 400SE already these are good for the spares box...so I thought! Back from holidays and a lovely box waiting in my office with a nice carbon frame inside. Also pulled out the boom and my instant response was "this is a 500/600 boom". So I messured it and it was 620mm long...that's much longer than my SE boom but not a 500/600 boom. SO...WTF have I bought here! ready to PM Phil and find out what he's sent me and realised after a bit of Google seaching it's a Logo 10XL boom. I'm now thinking what am i going to do with that, it's way too long and not a 400SE boom. Read a few HF threads and thought hmmm... 523 blades, bigger bird...I'm now thinking, with all the spares I have plus what I've just received I could cobble a whole heli together.

So now I have a Logo 400 SEE or as I like to think of it, my Logo 400X (thinking X-Men, Logo 400 mutant!) So it's a Logo 10 carbon mainframe with longer battery front, Logo 10XL boom, Logo 400 carbon tail box with 500 fins, Vbar head with 500 grips and 500 skids. I'm going to use original 400 0.5 gears with a 20T pinion and a Scorpion 4015-1070KV motor. I know this is pushing it a little but with my sport flying the gears should hold out. Also planning on using 6s 4000mAh lipo which could result in 10-15 minutes of flying, proof in the pudding needed here. So in some ways I think I created myself a 550 size logo. Not sure which blades to use yet but either spin 515 or edge 523's on the mains, the tails i'm not sure with. I use edge 87's on my SE so that's the minimum, but i'm thinking 92 or 95 edge might be a good idea as they might hold the tail better. I would value any opinions here. Also going to stick with what I know and use a BeastX FBL unit.

So what turned out to be a few spares for the box has turned into a complete project

Nice build Got further than I ever did on the project.
I always thought that boom would run 515mm max, but could well be wrong.
Not sure I would trust mod 0.5 with 500+ blades to be honest, but worth a try, and you have a spare mod 0.7 maingear and tail takeoff
With that motor, it will produce a fair bit of power, so dont think the mod 0.5 will last long.
Personally, I think it looks better with the logo 400 skids, and that will save a small amount of weight as well, which is always a good thing for flight time extension.
Keep us updated, looking forward to the maiden .

How cool is that, needs a RotorcraftRC canopy on it.

I just measured 2 of my Logo 500 booms & they are both 600mm. Did you measure it without the tail case on?? If it is 620 then you can run up to 560mm main but use 85mm tail. And as you are using 500 grips then 560's are not a problem. I think the only 560's availiable are Rotortech's, I have the Asian market ones & they really are ugly.

I did consider putting 550/560 on there but i'm not really looking for a bigger bird, I have the Fusion for that. This is more about what can I achive with the spares I have plus some extra bits. It's the same with the gears, if I can get away with the 0.5 pitch then I can keep a fair amount of common parts across my existing 400SE and this new mutant.

In fairness to Helinut, this is only loosely bolted to gether to work out what bits I don't have and ned to get. Even thou I have a fairly large box of bits there are one or two thing missing. So far it's control rods x1 MIK01587, boom supports MIK4093, carbon tail control rod (have some rod and links so DIY job), 20T Pinion MIK2820, Blade bolts MIK2079, and some Quick UK stand off balls to compensate for the Hitec servos sticking out further to avoid the main shaft. Also thinking of replacing the tail fins as the horizontal is really big and the vertical has lost it top bit and looks very strange! Can anybody tell me the width on a Logo 500 fin, one I have is 170mm?
