  • Hi-Res Mode with DX8 & DSMX sats ok?

    Hey all.

I have a question I'd like reassurance on from people running the same setup preferably.

Basically I have a full size blue line, DSMX sats and DX8, which is able to run 11ms in Hi-Res mode if I am not mistaken. Can anybody confirm this for me please?

Its fitted to an expensive model, a turbine T700 which isnt mine and so I want to be fully confident it can/will work safely this way.

    Thanks.

    Yep, it works amazing too!

As mentioned in my recent review. Laurence Gough UK 3D RC Helicopter Pilot's Blog - Viewing post > Spektrum DX8 Review

no problems running 11ms mode on my titan and it is sooooo locked in - like futaba as it is in similar mode. 2048.... you will not be diappointed and range checks I have done have all been good,

On my e7 and 600 EFL Pro i setup according to MrMel's suggestion (first post in the sticky):

Spektrum users - Which mode should I run? READ! - HeliFreak

My setups both use DX8 @ 11ms, 2x DSMX sats, and vbar fullsize blueline pro 5.2.5. This works correctly.

            Cool, thanks all for the responses. I'll go with Mr.Mel's ;

If you run DSMX satellites with a DSMX radio (DX8)
            - Run Spektrum DSMX satellites 1 or 2 in the VBar (11ms/2048 with DX8)

As it's such an expensive model I wanted to be sure, never having tried it myself before and remembering the problems initially mentioned with DSMX and Hi-Res a year ago.

Sorry to go a little off track here but I'd just like to say thanks Laurence after reading that review the DX8 is on the to buy list as soon as I can. I was almost at the point of deciding to go with a futaba 8fg super but not now. I'll hopefully get the DX8 with the 3 rx deal and later maybe in a few years I'll switch over to the 18 and use them for buddying up.

Just as a small heads-up, the inactivity timer is not 15 mins as per the review, it goes off after 5 mins. It used to be longer so I'd guess the review was done using older firmware. Seriously irritating at times, but there is some hope it may get changed again in a future firmware release.

Tbh I think the inactivity timer is a pretty good idea as I ahve left my tx on all night before. Not so handy when you have to finish setting up your model before heading to the field. ;-)

                        Hey Ian,

Are you close to firing the model up?

That was my next question ...

                          Looking forward to this one.

I first encountered turbines at Charmouth. There is something so realistic about smelling the jet fuel.

Thanks for that, I knew I should have timed it.

I've just timed it at 5:07 and I've been running it on Spektrum AirWare version 2.04 since I got it (I updated it on the first day).

I was miles out! I'll update my review, cheers. In the future I'll be sure to measure details like this.

And yes turbine models are incredible, I love the smell and the level of detail on them.
