  • DX8 LIPO battery

    Hi all,

Besides having longer between charges, is there any other advantage to using the optional LIPO battery in the DX8 rather than the supplied NIMH pack? Eg. Is the signal strength any better?

    Ta! Tom.

You answered your own question, battery will have nothing to do with signal strength only powers the radio

The standard battery lasts long enough, why waste money on another battery.

          DX8 LIPO battery

Charge when you want, and last loads longer between charging, and auto charge cut off.

When do you recharge? The alarm is set for 4.4v by default I think but that sounds very low to me...

The above says it all, well worth it IMO. You get many weeks if not months out of a charge.

My STD battery gave up after only 16 months of weekend only use.I was on my second flight of the day after a full recharge the day before when i got a low battery warning buzzer from my DX8. Before i could land it the plane just went in under full power. The TX had completely shut down.I purchased a lipo and it lasts for ages and it switches off the charge automatically when full.

If you got £30 to burn then go for it but I can't see the point in wasting money when it takes all of 2 secs to plug your DX8 in.

Lets say you can get three months between charge on a lipo, I say in 2 years quite a few ppl would of upgraded to the next shiny Tx, so over those two years you have had to charged it 8 times, so that £4 a charge, if you factor in postage as well.

Now you can probably get 6 weeks from a standard battery, I think I have only had to charge my tx 3 times since I got it in june so really can not see the point.

                        Tom,
the lipo is a great upgrade, iceuk don't know cause he is to tight to try the lipo option, and shouldn't comment as he can't compare both options, listen to the people who have had both, especially if you use the tx for the sim.

It's not a case of being tight, do you really need it? are you that lazy that you can not plug your tx in to charge a little more often.

Oh well it's up to you,
