  • DX6i - changing batteries

Can't find the answer, unless I'm looking in the wrong place!

The question: I'm new to rc helis, recently upgraded to a Blade 450 and DX6i (together as a RFT bundle); I'm still on the first set of alkaline batteries for the DX6i, which now has the 450 and my Blade mCX2 on it. When I have to change the batteries, will I lose the settings and bindings? In which case I presume I'll have to spend time hand-copying them and re-entering them manually. Or are the settings proof against removing batteries - the DX6i came with the 450 ready-set, so I guess the settings are safe?

Side point: when I change the model, the DX6i says DOWNLOAD... What is it downloading, and from where??!

Blade mCX2 - indoor use, slightly chipped
    Blade 450 3D - outdoor use, slightly grass-stained

Blade Nano CPX - indoor use, slightly lively
Blade mSR X - indoor use, slightly less lively than Nano
    Spektrum DX6i, Phoenix 4
plus some spares and a lot of optimism

You wont loose the models and settings stored when changing batteries!

I presume the downloading is from the built in memory that holds all your settings and models. It will then in the download go through initialisation for that model I would presume.

Owen - no, you don't lose anything. I use rechargable nimh batteries and take them out regularly to charge them.

The downloading is when it downloads the model settings from non-volatile memory (hence why you don't lose the settings), into the working memory for controlling the heli.

Ah, thanks all, that confirms what I'd thought about the batteries - irritating that the DX6i manual doesn't say that, though.

And thanks for clarifying the download thing too!
