    Version 2.06

    24 September 2012

    Software Features
    • Automatically corrects sub-trim and travel for models created in version 2.04 and
earlier after prompting the user. This is functional both for models already in
your radio, and for any you import from an SD card. You should always verify
operation of a model when making any updates prior to flying it.
    Software Corrections
    • P-Link Master Trainer mode was using trainer data for channels GEAR and
    higher.
    • When a channel is reversed the endpoint adjustment worked on the opposite
    side from what was expected.
    • Improved French translations.
    • Added SD logfile indicator to main screens.

NOTE: This change affects sub-trim and travel of existing models and ones you will
import. You should double-check sub-trims and travel on any reversed control surfaces
in both airplanes and helicopters when using models created in version 2.04 and earlier.

MY NOTE: on german forums users are reporting that the issue introduced in 2.05 for rudder have been fixed but are now introduced for aileron in 2.06 ... I guess they still need to fix something ....

I think I'll leave mine as it is at the moment as it's working ok for me. Not sure I want to screw anything up this close to what appears to be a corking flying day.

The comment on checking sub trims on reversed channels - I'm assuming they are referring to servo reversing and not negative cyclic percentages? can anyone clarify?

On mine it was any channel with the servo reverse set, the sub trim would need to be inverted (e.g. -10 would become +10 subtrim on that channel)

Glad none of my stuff uses sub-trim. But I'll only update after tomorrow's play

And with another update comes more glitches. It amazes me that people still continue to have confidence in these - the only thing keeping your £xxxx's worth of Heli's in the air!

What dose it actually do to the subtrim then? Reset it to zero?

It left the value as it was (so you do not loose the number) but as I said above if you had the channel reversed you needed to invert the value (e.g. -10 to +10). From what I read this change was to bring it in line with the DX18 and other future models. Sounds like they are doing this swap now with a warning to the user in the firmware.

Actually, even less hassle than I thought as it claims to correct the subtrim automatically with the new firmware update...sweet!

What are these 'glitches' you speak of?

I've just installed the 2.06 firmware on both of my DX8 Transmitters and neither of them appear to have any 'glitches'... Is there something I should know about before taking one of my bigger birds into the air... or did you just make that up?

there was/is an issue on 2.05 with rudder endpoints behaving the opposite way - holding the rudder stick right while adjusting the right endpoint, actually altered the left values and visa versa.
some people on german forums claim that the issue on rudder has been fixed but now exists for aileron ...

                          also interesting:
what I found is that any model you access that hasnt been accessed with 2.06 will trigger the modelfile update IF it has reversed channels. If you fixed the trim difference on reversed channels already with 2.05 click the Cancel button and it will be done.
Any others that trigger the update screen just click update and the trim differences post 2.04 will automatically be fixed.
Always give it quick check and make sure it looks right after you update.

some interesting finds on the german forum,

here are the settings on the vbar from the DX8 on 2.05

                            205.jpg
here after the upgrade to 2.06

I think it definitely makes sense to verify your models after the upgrade ... directly after the upgrade without any changes

That's what I found on mine.

I have problems down loading updates but not sure why.

                              Windows 7 and Kaspersky

I have emailed Spektrum but no reply. Been a few days waiting.
                              Cheers Paul
