DSX9 Q's

Just a couple of things.

I have heard about a kit you can get that makes a backlight for the screen.Is there much involved in doing this or is it straight foward?

Also I want to run a lipo and was thinking a 2s 1500 would be ok and do I just need to put the correct plugs on the lipo??

Any advice is appreiciated

From all ive been told the DSX9 don't like Lipo's they tend to blow the output stage if you use 3S as the sustained voltage is too high and I dont understand why you would want to run 2s as its only 7.4V which isnt goign to be high enough a voltage to run the set. Im finding the standard nimh last quite well, although I am charging it each week, but im using a pro peek so its nice n easy.

oh the other thing from what I understand if you run a lipo and it goes pop their not covering it under warranty, just something to think about.

don't know about the backlighting side of things.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't have the balls to risk the integrity of my DSX9 by trying to do anything like this. I can live with no back-light quite happily.

I dont know how to do links etc, but check out my reply to the thread in main discussions about replacing DX7 battery.
I have spent many hours reading through almost everything i can find on the matter, and the conclusion is DONT use a Lipo it a transmitter for the reasons outlined in my post.

OK,from more searching lipo is not the way to go.I can live with charging every week

Just think the back light would be a nice addition to the set so this I will look into more

My DX 9 is staying standard, no way am I going to compromise
a £400 radio set for a backlighted display & the lipo mod.

I use a 2700mah sanyo 9.6v Tx battery from Overlander Batterys. More capacity than a Lipo that will fit in the back of a Tx, and the correct voltage. Lasts for ages (over a month) The only advantage of a Lipo is that it can be charged in a short time.

Have used a lipo in both my DSX9 and my DX7 when needed up the field with no side effects.

The backlight mod did raise my eyebrows a little but starting with the soldering iron in a DSX9 definately changed my mind.

Will just go with a bigger tx batt then
