  • Spektrum Dx7 Problem.

Hi guys i was wondering if anyone has came across this same problem.

I have a dx7 with a stock ni-mh aa1500mah 9.6v. When i charge it overnight with the standard wall charger in the morning it lasts for around 5 mins.

Now my first impression is that the battery is at the end of its life. But when i put into the computer for the simulator it stays on. Is the radio getting power from the usb in the computer?

    Thanks

    Gareth.

With Phoenix your tx would be off when you connect it so yes it does
What voltages is the tx displaying when fully charged ?

      Hello Gareth
Providing your charger is ok, I think your battery has had it. I don't think the usb is powering your tx, But plugging the sim cable in the trainer port disables the rf side of things and use's hardly any current...
On my DX7s with the battery out it does not power up so do not think usb supply's power

It goes to 11.1v when fully charged then dies after 2 mins. When its plugged into the sim it reads 9.4v.

Yeah its weird. I just have the sim lead plugged into the transmitter now and not connected to the computer. The transmitter has been on for this past 2 hours and still reading 9.3v. As soon as i take the lead out and flip the switch to on it dies.

A battery is made up of individual cells. One of these will be dead. That's why it seems odd. You need a new one or go for a LiFe.

mine does exactly the same, i got a new battery to fly with, but use my old one for the sim, and yes it drops voltage straight away, then the warning goes off and its fine for however long, even days later it still works. i dont charge it too long and not over night, it charges ok with nothing untoward going on, i thought the same it must get something from the usb. it works fine for me on the sim but i wouldnt use it to fly with.
