  • Elyq and BeastX

    Hi,

Just setting up a Rave Env. I'm running an elyq reg and a BeastX unit. All of the servos glitch randomly every few seconds. All the setup in the beast is correct I believe. I'm running ds615 cyclics at 6v. And it's wired to the elyq the way beast ask.

    Cheers

What do you mean by glitch?, I assume you don't mean the buzz that most digital servo's make?

I take it you visited beastx servo data, correct frame rate etc

No I know they are very noisy and I know the FBL system moves and that. But all 3 servos randomly move a few mm like an input was put in.

I've just rigged it up so that the servos go straight into the beast and no glitches.

        ??

It was second hand but from a very reputable guy on here. Voltages are all reading ok.

Just wondering if anyone else had experience troubles with going into variable voltage regs.

When I was using the BeastX on a nitro with a Fromeco Arizona reg I still connected the servos directly to the BeastX and then I ran two separate power connectors from the Arizona to the BeastX.

I never tried it the way you'd normally do running some of the servos through the reg.

Works a treat that way trillian. But that's not how it's supposed to run. Strange.

                Oh well......

                Cheers Guys

I got my BeastX when version 2.1 just came out so the booklet only showed the connections all going direct into the Beast. Ordinarily with the Fromeco Arizona you'd have the throttle and rudder routed through the Arizona so you get two power connections to the RX and the tail can run at 5 volts while everything else runs at 6 etc. This is how I have run the Arizona on flybarred models.

At the time I did some reading on the BeastX forum and various places and was told the BeastX can handle the power so long as you have more than just one servo type connector feeding it as that's where the bottleneck will be. I was concerned about the potential power draw of three AceRC DS1015 servos on the swash (this was on a .50 nitro) but it always worked fine.

I also ran it on two Duralite regs each with their own LiPo. Each reg had its own switch as well. But that was a bit overkill.

I have not looked into what they're recommending now when using regs like the SG Reactor or Gryphon Extreme and others that are made to power some of the servos directly. I would think having the swash servos powered directly from the regulator would be preferable.

Anyway, you might have a look on the BX forum and post a question, see if there's some logical reason for the glitching.

I've got a version 1.x beastx and elyq reg on my 600N ..but for the life of me can't remember how i set it up without going to look. It's been like it for a couple of years with no need to pull any wires and doesn't glitch.

It is always worth having a look at the tx's servo output monitor screen to see if anything is hapeening there in conjucntion with those glitches...just to eliminate.
