I would prefer some solder to overflow the bucket than to have not used enough solder. I have seen a few where the connector was not even tinned by the manufacturer and the wire has pulled out. Any solder that does over flow is very soft and can very easily be cut off with a stanley knife.
The lead being very soft will clog a file very quickly requiring cleaning often with a wire brush.
