FMA 10S Charger software

I am having difficulty with my PC not seeing the charger when connected through the USB adaptor lead.

The software seems to be constantly looking for a com port to use. When I tell it to download (at the foot of the opening screen), nothing happens.

I should say the charger is switched on and the USB plug inserted with the black wire down.

Any advice please?

make sure your have the cable connected to the charger the right way, the negative wire should be nearest the front of charger.

I have tried the software on 2 separate PCs and no com port can be found.

Does it sound like a duff USB adaptor that was supplied with the CellPro 10S?

The charger with the default presets works fine but I really do want to use the software.

Only had quick look at the software but there does appear to be a com port tool that you can run`setcom.exe give this try as it lets you select the com port. Failing that try reinstalling the drivers & after that give I'd give mike a call at aurorra and see if he can help you out.

Quick update, got round to trying the pc software out and had the same prob with the com port. Easily rectified. If your running Windows xp go into control panel > system > Hardware > Device manager and double click on the Ports (COM & LPT). You should then see Prolific Usb-to-serial Comm Port, Double click this then the port settings tab followed by the advanced tab. Look bottom left and you can change the com port to one that isn't being used, ok all the windows and then run the 10s software and change the com port to the one you selected. Should all work fine then.

Can't download the software from FMA website

Keep getting this error message during install ......An error occurred attempting to install CHS10S

When i look at the error log is says it can't download the CHG10S.application

Any ideas before i ring Mike???

it uses microsoft .net I believe, so you could try installing that first then downloading.
Also try using a different browser, firefox as an example, or if you already use that try IE

I downloaded this from fmadirect last night...
I already have .net 2 framework installed so didn't need to install that.
You download a setup file for the 10S charger, then that goes and downloads an application manifest (used in .net framework) which installs the software.

All this said, I believe my connecter between USB lead and charger may be faulty too as I had to hold it together in a very specific position for the firmware update to be able to run.

Painful 2 minutes!

This is using IE i presume, try using firefox but you will need the .net plugin for it to work, theres a link to it somewhere on the fmadirect website where the charger sofware is.

Turned the Firewall Off and downloaded all ok......dunno why i didn't do that straight away.

Following my original post on 5th May, I tried most things and came to the conclusion that the connector (USB) that came with the charger was at fault. I discussed this with Mike who immediately sent me a new one. I have been away for a couple of days and have just now tried the replacement which works just fine, so Mike comes up trumps again!

Incidentally, I did email FMADirect asking if the USB connector could be faulty, but FMA declined to reply to my enquiry.

Hope this might be of assistance to someone else.
