Having just purchased a 550 Hurri CF and being a really nosey :piggy: i'd love to see your Heli pics so i can steal, ahem borrow some of your idea's, setups and see what kit you are using.

Please show me yours!! - i would show you mine but it is just a frame in a box at the moment :ack2:

Regards,

Mine is a stock plastic frame version with orginal motor and ESC. I modded the plastic canopy using a Raptor windscreen cut to size. After these pics were taken I upgraded to CNC grips and mixer arms but I am going to sell this heli now as I just never fly it.

LOL. That's actually a rattan coaster, but I never realised it does look exactly like a chocolate digestive biscuit! :)

Cheers Trillian, I take it by stock you mean the Gaui 850kv motor and 50a ESC or the 1100kv motor and the 75a esc?

Before i commit to the build of mine i'd be interested if the stock setup is worthwhile for simple free flight and very light 3D? There's a lot of 550 flyers out there using a whole range of motors/esc's so i'm a little confused as what to put in it for good flight times running 2 3 cell lipos?

Pointers welcome! - oh.... i thought it was a biscuit too!

Yeah it's the 850 (or was it 890) kv motor and 50A esc, which is quite capable of powering the heli. The bigger motors turn it into a rocket but it will fly quite well on the original motor / esc / gear setup.

Having learned to fly on a 450 size i was overwhelmed when this thing arrived in the post. It's huge. I bought a set of NHP 550 carbon fibre blades to get a gauge on this thing and quite frankly it has scared me to death after bolting them to the rotor head.
I would like info on an ideal ESC/Motor setup that would give long flight, inverted flight and really mild 3D performance.

I'm looking at the Scorpion HK3026-1210 motor and the stock GUAI 75A esc or the Align 75A Esc, am i in the right ball park?
450's were so easy,

I'm having to think now!! err and about this BEC thing !

Thx to Trillian i finally got this thing in the air. I've had about 6 flights so far just to set it up, lock the tail in etc and iron out any bugs. So far no dramas. Managed 9 mins hover on 2x 2250 lipo's and they sucked in 1800 on a recharge! Time to finalize the positioning of the electrics, up the head speed and go from there!
Will post some pics soon,

Thanks again Trillian :)

Loving it!!

Cool! Yeah the carbon frame is much slicker looking and I'm guessing a lot more rigid. :hat:

I take it you bought Trillians bird. Looking at one of these or a Trex500 ESP as a more stable outdoor heli. I don't want a nitro as I live in a flat and don't enjoy storing the fuel in here or having a heli that can leak fuel everywhere. So leccies seem more my cuppa tea.
