  • n5 weekend and thanks skyline models

Just thought i would let you know how the n5 went.

    Shit lol.

Got to do maiden flight on saturday at a club 250ish miles from home in ayelsbury, first spool up found gyro sense wrong way but fixed that then finaly into first hover then tail lets go and starts spining arggghhhh hit hold and auto'd it safely.
Checked servo and no response from servo. Tried a spare servo and still nothing. Turns out the perfect regulator with regulated tail has failed. gutted.
As we were only 15 mins from skyline models and it being 4:45 on a saturday we decided to travel down and get a replacement regulator, we arrive 25 minutes later (traffic) its closed. ARGHHHHH. Luckily Craig Lorking has bobs mobile number and gives him a call, another stroke of luck and bob will be passing in an hour and will see what he can do.
Off we go to the local pub for a swift one while we wait for a call back from bob.
As promised the call comes from bob and we drive back to skyline models where we are welcomed in and shown the regulators available the purchase of the align 2in1 is made and we let bob go home

Many many thanks to bob at Skyline models you didn't have to come out late on a saturday night but you did and I am very very greatfull
    Thank you.

With heli all built and ready for flight sunday morning craig, callum and myself head off to slough model flying club.
Time for maiden attempt number two, heli takes of and is great, tracking slightly out but no vibrations GREAT, half a tank will do so i land and check every nut bolt and link and all is good.

Refill tank and go again, half a tank of slow flight and time to push a little over we go inverted and silence engine cuts out ARGGGGHHH managed to flip it over but not enough power left in blades and at 4ft heli drops to the deck.

Damage is skids and pipes, tail vertical fin a bent link and a ball link pulled from the seesaw. PHEW.

Manged to repair with bits stollen from the 600 spare i had, but spooling up the n5 and there is a terrible rattle from the clutch bell and a very violent wobble but no sign of main or feather shaft being bent.
Further investigation required but not this week im having a break from it all.
GUTTED. But what a great heli this is the impact it took and the few damged parts goes to show how strong this thing is.

Many thanks to Craig lorking for putting up callum and me for the weekend
Many many many thanks to bob johnstone at skyline models for your time and help.
