Just out of interest what type of starter are you using for starting the N9?
I had the same problem with mine and put it down to the starter I was using.

I'm using the align starter at the min, i will be replacing that tho soon as it does struggle to start it

Thats the cause Paul, its exactly the same as I was using That racheting effect that the align gives when under extreme load causes premature where on the clutch stack.
I've moved on to the Sulli as I have 2 N9's and didn't fancy having to replace the other starter shaft and clutch simply because who needs to create maintainence

LOL, since buying the Sulli I will confess to having created another problem However it is my fault, I power my starter with a 6s pack and on my 700 it makes the one way in the starter assembly slip sometimes. Think perhaps next time I'm buying a battery for the starter I'll try a 5s and hopefully that will solve the problem

My 700 OWB slips a peach too, as does Marks. Think it is pretty common :s

I did wonder about the starter causing it to fail as it does hammer it a bit

looks like i'd better get a new starter sooner rather than later

                thanks for the heads up
