      Hi
do you mean the Walkers Crisp Factory then yes still there.

I did hear that if the Vulcan flys again it will do RAF Waddington
air show... One of the few air bases here it can fly from!

Hopefully a couple of years it will fly again.

Hi, X558 and rest of pilots... I have seen this thread hanged here from some time ago, and thought it would be good to see if theres any other Eolo pilots around...
X558, you know me, I am the "same" Spooky from the other forum. I was, too, looking for a european forum, so I registered, not long ago.
Nice webpage about the Vulcan! 8) I hope she will be crossing the sky soon.
About Eolos, I have just taken mine out of its winter condition and gave it a flight around to "get rid of the dust". Just made a visual quick check, meassured the Lipo cells balance and charged the pack, and got sure every screw was still tight.
13 minutes of pleasant flight before it got too dark. When you have not flown the Eolo for a long time, you are again impressed by its stability... compared to the other helis I fly, or to the Spirit Pro in my Reflex simulator, it is really easy to hover and to control in flight, despair a little breeze that was moving the trees.
Also, like Xh558, I am not ambitious about getting to 3D flying (at least with this machine), only realistic and quiet controlled flight, as my Eolo is, i think, a nice scale looking Schweizer 300 and I am too scared of smashing it ops: , parts not easy to find around here.
Tried to upload a picture.. I think its easier like this:
        http://www.spookycopters.com/Host_Fi...yCopters_4.jpg
then you can see why I think the Eolo is an enormous heli!

Got to keep this part of the forum active - so a quick update on my Eolo.

Posted this on another forum but thought it would fit in well here too as a safety warning and a lesson learned .........

          Actually it's 2 lessons (or maybe 3!!!)

          1) I was 'tidying' up the model settings on my TX (JR X2610) and noticed you can copy models around within the 10 model memory.
I was putting all the planks together (all PPM) putting them tidily into numerical order - and everything was going well until I suddenly realised I had just copied a 4 channel PPM plank onto the location of my SPCM Eolo Heli Embarassed All settings for the Eolo lost in a second and there's no 'Undo' button.

I had the devils own job originally setting the Eolo up being new to SPCM 3 servo swashes and also new to computer TX's .... and I hadn't written down the settings anywhere.

Lesson 1 ......write down the important settings (or get a DatXChange module to save them to my PC.)

          2) And here is the safety issue . Embarassed When resetting up the heli 'Live' I know you should use a AA pack to power the RX - but did I remember that Shocked Embarassed NO ........... Had the normal battery plugged in and as I had throttle hold switch ON I thought all would be well - forgetting of course that the TX had lost its throttle hold settings Embarassed
Reversed the throttle servo on the workbench and OFF she went in an instant Shocked Shocked main blades missed my head by a whisker and the tail blades hit the bench grinder and disintegrated in a second ....
I had to reach under the blades to unplug the battery Shame on you d'oh! Man those blades have some inertia

          VERY LUCKY

Lesson 2 ..... never leave the main battery plugged in to the RX when messing about with settings on the bench

And I knew lesson 2 already - but was complacent - so I suppose

          Lesson 3 .... Don't be complacent

Also I've just bought an alloy servo mount and updated my Quick UK swash to a more modern one - the one with the extra ball 'for balance' (Yeah right!!)
Servo mount makes a lot of difference - servos are now much more rigid.

Just can't wait for this sodding wind to drop so I can get out and try it somewhere else other than the garden!!

Well, another Eolo newcomer - a bit late on the scene but it's coming together now and will be my training heli. I've been flying it on Reflex XTR for a year now and out of the heli's on there flew the best so it made an easy decision for me. Can't wait to get flying though.

Well, in predictable fashion, I'll be learning to fly on it and then mounting a camera up front. I'm no 3d flyer, in fact just watching it scares me slightly so I'm going down the comparitively low cost AP route (micro servo taped to the shutter release!!) and possibly even a touch of cartoon scale at some point.

Just now I'm finishing the wiring and have started on setting up - confusing the life out of me...

I know nothing about cameras and stuff - I just fly my trusty Eolo for fun in the garden I have upgraded mine to virtually Li status by adding a belt drive tail and most of the alloy bling bits you can get plus recently some carbon tail blades - I'm using a FlightPower EVO20 3700mah pack for power with an Li canopy so it fits up front to get the right balance
I would thoroughly recommend the belt drive tail - that's made mine much better vibration wise.
Its really stable in the hover and much much easier to get in the air in a controllable fashion than the little Piccolo I started on which was a bu**er to learn on - but made the Eolo a pleasure when I moved up

Well, the blades turned in anger for the first time today (well the tail blades anyway, the mains were off as I'm setting the throttle curve - any hints with a Kontronik Twist 37?).

I've managed to set the pitch curve ok so far from -2' to +10' with about 6' at mid stick, I can adjust this as neccessary but the manual suggests it. Everything else is working as it should including the initially miscreant gyro, I'm feeling a first full wind up very soon...
