  • Where to buy a TDR?

    Hey guys

I may be in a position to be able to buy an new helicopter and amongst a couple of new helicopters i've had my eye on for a while I keep thinking about the TDR (see my thread below this one!) I was just wondering if anyone of you knew where might be a good place to try and find one? Obviously ebay and just googling but I wondered if you knew of anywhere else?

    Thanks

    Gary

    P.S

I tried ebay.de and there is a 3D NT with an electric conversion and a load of canopies but that's all!

I would love one but I don't have the wherewithal at the moment. I have two canopies (which belong to the MK heli club) but that's the nearest I can get so far.

You could post on Helifreaks as there's a fairly active Henseleit forum there.

I love the TDR, it's so simple but something about it is just totally right. The next closest thing to the original TDR would be the minicopter Diabolo. The TDR2 looks really cool in it's own way but it's a totally different beast.

I've been after a protos max v2 since I first saw one, I also really fancy a logo 690sx. There is just this desire to expirience a TDR though, don't get me wrong there is nothing actually wrong with my Avant, it flies beautifully and looks and sounds awsome! however, if I break the canopy it's unlikely i'll be able to replace it and that (along with other spares) scares me a bit.

I was amazed by the videos I saw of the TDR when it first came out where he was switching from really low headspeed to higher headspeeds in the same flight. I had never seen that before, now it's fairly common. But the TDR still had an element of mystery for me so I just had to get one and see for myself and I wasn't dissapointed. With Jan concentrating on the new models you have to just keep an eye out for a 2nd hand one, post wanted ads etc. and eventually one will come up. It is still supported with parts, just no new kits of the original version.

It's a very subjective thing but the Kasama Faifa with the low-rider head can fly quite similar to the TDR and they weigh almost exactly the same. The visibility of the TDR is very good because of the big canopy profile (and it runs very nicely on really modest electrics, mine has a Jive 80HV and Align 750MX motor)

Just curious, what is your impression of the Diabolo compared with the TDR? I have the Triabolo so it's hard to compare them too directly due to the three blades having a different feel in general vs a two blade head. To me they're quite similar in some ways but the Triabolo is a good bit heavier so in other ways the Faifa is a bit closer to the TDR. (I'm flying at fairly low headspeeds on all of them as well so that's probably a factor).

Hi Gaz having owned a good selection of heli,s inc a TDR i would suggest a Gaui X7 best behaved heli i own it just does what you ask which sounds a bit odd until you fly one then you will realise why the so many fly them , the TDR is a bread on its own if you only fly one heli you will love it its very well made and very capable I had both sets of dampers in mine and even though I loved the design and the quality, but I didn't like the way it reacted it was over sharp to start a manoeuvre then it went slow through the end its a really odd feeling, most helis are predicable from start to finish .

If you could have gone back in time I had 3 the start of the season and ended up giving them away for approx. £350 each as nobody wanted them , I even had enough spare parts to put another one together. All of them apart from the parts went to the States and Paul Williams had all the spare parts for £30 if I remember . The canopies that you have at MK I left there as a donation to the club along with a box of spares and lots of blades etc etc . Sorry Mike if I see another Ill let you know !
