Bell Crank Shaft too short

I've emailed Climbout to see about getting a replacement part

Grr, not having much luck. My feathering shaft appears to be too short now also. The head block was already assembled so I slide the spacers on, then the grip, then washer and bolt. When I tighten up the grips are stiff and notchy and you can see that the shaft is not flush with the inner part of the bearing, again about 0.5-0.75 mm too short on both sides

not on mine matey was flying mine today, are ur dampers pushed in properly?? coz they are rather tight

As far as I can tell. Mine are very tight, so much so that I cannot turn the spindle inside them. I've got no chance of removing it without damaging something. Did you have to assemble the head block yourself? Mine came with dampeners and spindle already assembled.

I would mate, but I can't even move the spindle they're that tight

put the bolt in it, do it up, leave the driver in the bolt, twist and push it out

Without having looked at one, I assume they are metal blade grips? If so, pop them in the oven, then re-assemble while still warm. It will allow the bearings to seat properly if they havnt done so when originally assembled.

OK, I've managed to get the head apart. The dampeners etc are all seated correctly, and the bearings in the grips also seems to be in as far as they can go. If I only use one spacer (the ones that go between the head block and grips) they grips are nice and smooth. If I use one on each side (like I'm meant to, the bearings are being compacted

Is it worth filing down the spacers? Or easier still, shave about 0.5mm off of each dampener?

Tighten spindle up as normal and put a driver though blade grip holes(NO BLADES FITTED) and pull apart does it get smoother?
If it does then it will not be a problem as the blade will remove the pressure once spinning..

I am sure after a few flights if will bed in anyway.

If not, i'll see what I can do to help... should be a easy fix..

I got it sorted in the end. I couldn't find a suitable washer anywhere - either too large an outer diameter, or too small an inner. I ended up shaping a plastic chop stick and wedging the metal spacer and filing about 1.5mm off of it (luckily it's soft metal!).

Main grips are very notchy still, but when I pull them away from the main block, they loosen up quite a bit.

And that concludes my build, until I can afford the rest of the gear! I've got my Rx, Gov and 2in1 but servos, engine, BeastX etc will have to wait for a while!
