  • Upgrading 600e original to 600pro

Well, I'm sure someone must have done this....

After my first crash with my original trex 600 since building it in 2007 I am now contemplating a full rebuild. However, I would like to upgrade to the 600 pro frame for the easier battery access and 12s so I have longer battery life. I was contemplating using the original gearing running with a Scorpion motor I had already purchased to upgrade from 6s to 12s. I have a stockpile of 600e original parts which I would like to use - purchased ahead of the crashes I thought would come but managed to put off for so long.

I think this is feasible as from what I can see, most parts are interchangeable. Any thoughts on this? My only question at this point is whether the shaft is the same. Any comments very welcome.

Too many different parts, shaft is different, boom block thicker as the frames are wider to accomodate lipo tray, motor would also need to upgraded too.you just as well buy a kit only, comes with motor

I think its out of the question mate, its probably going to be easier and cheaper buying the Pro kit.... with the 500, people thought its only some slight changes to the ESP but the only parts it shared with the original was about 5 parts.. Honestly think its going to be the same with the 600

Many thanks for the replies. I feared this might be one of the problems. Trouble is what to do with the mountain of spare parts - suppose I might have to repair to the original 600E. From what I can see, apart from the Pro taking the 600 Nitro boom block the tail section is the same. I already have a complete Pro frame that the old shaft seems to fit (visually - have not done a complete check yet).

Thing is that unlike the 600E manual, the new manuals do not seem to publish parts lists - so I have nothing to compare against what I already have.

Do completely agree though that I might be wasting my time and it would certainly be simpler to rebuild from a new kit.

You wont be dissapointed, the fact you can get perfect CoG with the new design without having to move stuff about is great. The boom block is deffo wider....and look at it

very nice. Its a tough call. What size packs do/can you fit in the pro? Already have 4 x 6s 3300mAh 25-50c turnigy nano-techs that I had lined up for the original 12s upgrade. Suitable?

Like your rail blades. How do they compare with the radix - which so far I have used rather exclusively.

                Them packs are perfect

Only got tails on there now,the mains are nice but found them to quiet lol so put edges back on.

Will add that the pro is designed for high headspeeds and the tail is pants at low head speeds. Two choices, larger tail blades/700 fin and taller skid strut at the rear or fit the 550 auto gear to change the gearing which is what i have done...tails rock solid at 2100/2200

Thanks for all the suggestions and links. Much appreciated. I think I will probably get the pro kit now if I manage to hand on some of my 600 parts.
