  • New KDE 600XF-530HP

Just got this in an email.... should be shipping out to stores by the 26th March.

I've been waiting quite a while for this motor so thought I'd post now that it's finally coming! The stock motor is powerful, but really poorly balanced, and the other replacement options (scorpion, xera etc) all require shimming the servos to make space whereas this is a drop in replacement. The specs are pretty nuts too!

KDE Direct 600XF-530 HP Brushless Motor

    Price: $269.95
    Material: Neodymium N45SH, 530Kv
Models: direct bolt-in design for the ALIGN 600E PRO series (M3 x 25mm). Also suitable for other 550,
    600 and 650-class helicopters (compatible with M4 x 30mm and M3 x 25mm mounting profiles).

Motors include 200°C, 13AWG silicone-wire leads and 5.5mm CC Bullet Connectors (pre-soldered to the
motor leads and ESC bullets in the box).

Note: the new KDE Direct 600XF-530 High-Performance Brushless Motor is an extremely efficient and powerful motor for
any 550/600/650-class Electronic helicopter, and was designed as a drop-in powerhouse for the ALIGN TREX 600E PRO
series helicopters. In collaboration with Castle Creations, the motor is custom designed for KDE Direct and used the latest
Computer-Aided Magnetic Field Analysis software to design the most efficient and optimized design for high-level,
3D-competition flight. The motor is designed to handle extreme-power setups and has been optimized for
governor-control algorithms of the Castle Creations ESC product line; making this motor the most capable offering in the
    RC helicopter marketplace.

Is it really worth the extra £60/80 over the stock?

Yeah, but it "has been optimized for governor-control algorithms of the Castle Creations ESC product line"

Joking aside, the new CC firmware supposedly does something quite strange with the commutation (which is why the RPM sensors don't work.) I wonder if motors they've designed really do work better with their ESCs. As ever, I'd like to know more, but probably won't...
