  • 600 efl with 105 tails mod - Blade Strikes

Is anyone else getting blade strikes using the 105 Tail mod?

Im finding now Im starting to fly mine more aggressively, I'm striking the mains on the tails. I think I will have to run the gear ratio mod instead. Am I right in thinking all I need is the 550 tail gear and torque tube front gears?

    Cheers.

No you need the 550 autorotation gear and the 550 tail front gear, works a treat. Only problem is the flimsy front gear can break if the tail hits the ground.

Mines been fine, not heard of anyone having a strike. Are your dampers okay?
        Cheers,

I'm running stock dampers. What would you suggest?

Thanks. Not sure what to do, don't really want kill a third set of blades finding out. I would up the heads speed to 2500+ and run stock, but I'm already only at 4mins on 3600mah.

              Which are the hardest kbdd's?

                  Orange.

                  4 mins on 3600??...thats strange....im running 2240 and can get 5.50 using 80%

Timer set to 5.30 though for 70-75% juice used.

                  Heres a flight from yesterday.

Nice flying. I fly a lot more aggressively than you though hence the shorter time I guess.

Have you looked into wider chord blades? I have some tail blades on my Outrage 550 that are 29mm chord. These are only 87mm long but the same chord width might be available in a 95mm blade or something.

Why not run the original 600E gear ratio and use 95mm tails? The reason for the tail blowouts on the 600EFL is the lowered gear ratio as it is intended to be run at much higher H/S than the original 600E

Hi Paul you've picked me up wrongly. Moving to the 600E gear ratio speeds up the tail allowing you to run shorter tail blades (95mm) and/or lower your H/S to improve overall flight time..
